The Scuderia Autoart sponsored Audi R8 LMS keeps the top spot of the GTWC Australia Championship after strong showing in Perth.

Race 1 saw a great start from Liam Talbot take the lead from a P2 start and hold the lead for the opening 10 laps. After stretching out a gap of almost 5 seconds over Audi brand colleague Geoff Emery, a moment at the final corner saw the #65 Audi run through the gravel trap resulting in the Audi dropping down to second.

Lapped traffic came into the equation around the short Wanneroo, forcing the #65 Audi to retire following contact with lapped car Justin McMillan after just 19 laps. The #1 The Bend Motorsport Park Porsche lead the field after the chaos in traffic into the pit stop window and managed the gap to the finish, resulting in Porsche’s first GT3 win in Australia since 2019.

The #65 Audi driver duo secured pole position for Race 2 after Max Hofer set a new GT qualifying record at Wanneroo with a 53.1593. The #65 Audi once again led from the front row, this time with Hofer at the wheel.

At the pit stop, Liam Talbot took over the Audi R8 LMS Evo II and crossed the line with a 28-second lead after one hour.

Despite the DNF in Race 1, Talbot and Hofer continue to lead the GTWC Australia championship with #65 Fraser Ross Audi R8 LMS EVO II with an eight-point advantage over Yasser Shahin and Garnet Patterson in the #1 The Bend Motorsport Park Porsche. Geoff Emery follows another four points behind in third in the #75 Jamec Racing Audi. The GTWC Australia heads to Philip Island on May 12-14 for Round 3 as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.
